There is something about him you can’t resist!
Zimbabwe music giant Jah Prayzah is the most sought-after artiste locally and it seems he has extended his charm internationally as he has been announced as one of the creatives who will feature on the upcoming Grammy-Award-winning Reggae bloodline Morgan Heritage album to be released on 21 April.
Also registering their names on the much-anticipated album titled The Homeland, are Capleton, Busy Signal, Eddy Kenzo, Beenie Man, Rocky Dawuni, Shatta Walle, Youssou N’Dour, Stone Bwoy, Cleo Ice Queen, Made Kuti, Cham, Otile Brown, Shaggy, Popcaan as well as Alpha Blondy.
The title of the song that Jah Prayzah worked on with Morgan Heritage could not be established, but his manager Keen Mushapaidze said the joint was recorded at JP Studios.
“It’s an honour and a dream fulfilment for Jah Prayzah to have managed to clinch a collaboration with reggae’s best group Morgan Heritage. It’s a sign that he can be regarded among the best on the world music scene because great names have also made it to this album.
“When Morgan Heritage was touring Zimbabwe in 2022, they made a surprise visit at JP Studios, something that shocked us. It seems they had been following JP’s music and they became ecstatic about his creations.
“They had a jam session at the studio and there were many producers there but, on our side, we were represented by DJ Tamuka and Rodney Beatz. After that studio session the rest is history,” said Mushapaidze.
Despite featuring on Morgan Heritage’s forthcoming project, Jah Prayzah is gearing up for the release of his album which will be launched combined with shows on 12 and 13 May in Harare and Bulawayo respectively.
Mushapaidze said the forthcoming album which still hasn’t been given a body title, will be entirely a JP project as he featured a “few” artistes.
“The album is done but we haven’t given it a title yet. On this one, Jah Prayzah decided to do a solo full body of art. Of course, he might feature one or two artistes but this project entirely focuses on him as a music genius.
“We will officially do launch shows in Harare and Bulawayo respectively because JP commands a large following in these cities. After that we will take the offering to the rest of Zimbabwe, then to the world.
“Fans must expect a lot of mbira and marimba sound on the album, as well as Urban Afro beats that always characterise JP’s sound identity,” said Mushapaidze.
