ZIMBABWE men’s cricket team will take on West Indies on Saturday for their first test series at Queens Sports club in Bulawayo.

The Chevrons had a hectic schedule which resulted in some senior players sitting out the Test Series against West Indies to nurse injuries.

They took on Ireland on three day ODI which ended with a tie as the decider was dismissed because of heavy rains that forced the game to be stopped and ruled a draw.

The West Indies team arrived last week on Monday and got straight to training at Queens Sports Club, they got into some action with the Chevrons on a four-day warm-up game against Zimbabwe A, which was played last week and ended in a stalemate at the Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC).

The Zimbabwean side will be captained by batsmen Craig Ervine during the two Test series because Sean Williams who is out with a broken finger, while pace bowlers

Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani are recovering from thigh injuries.

The other all-rounders Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl are fulfilling franchise commitments abroad, in United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh respectively.

The Chevrons will see two senior players Donald Tiripano and Chamunorwa Chibaba play in the series.

The West Indies Jason Holder who jetted in Bulawayo last week Wednesday coming from his South African IPL franchise team Durban Super Giants toured Bulawayo and went to the Bulawayo Golf Club then later went to get some food and took pictures with his fans at Smokehouse.

Holder is the former captain of the West Indies cricket team. He is a right arm fast bowling all-rounder. Holder made his One Day International (ODI) debut in January 2013 and Test debut in June 2014. In June 2019, Holder played in his 100th ODI match for the West Indies, during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In January 2019, he was ranked as the number one all-rounder in the world according to the official ICC Test rankings. In August 2019, Cricket West Indies named him as the Test Player of the Year. Jason Holder is the first West Indies male player to take a hat-trick in T20i.

The first Test is scheduled February 4-8, with the second to take place 12-16 February 12-16.
