IN the City of Kings at one celebrated entertainment joint, Wednesdays are preserved for ladies.
This is because Cubana Cigar Lounge and its back door sibling Havana understand the social and work pressures that women go through every day, and thus, they have dedicated Wednesday for women to kick back and rewind over cocktails.
This is also a place where the โwho is whoโ of Bulawayo, be it in business, academia, showbiz and sports meet.
For the past five years, Cubana has been running its Cocktails Wednesday events, which has somehow become the culture of the city.
As Bulawayo is hosting an exhibition at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), locals and delegates at the trade fair from different parts of the country as well as the international community, are set to be treated with a unique Cocktails Wednesday experience dubbed the โZITF Editionโ at Cubana and Havana on 26 April.
Mesmerising the audience with music will be female DJs Fifi as well as Just Dre, who are arguably the fast-rising and consistent upcoming wheel spinners.
They will share the booth with residential DJs Flexxy O and Becks.
Ntando Ndlovu who is the marketing consultant for Cubana said they want to lead a unique Bulawayo experience to the visitors who will have a chance to witness the two female DJs who are making waves in the Bulawayo showbiz lice on decks.
โThe concept of this night is built up over so many years into what I will arguably call the best place to be during the week and ladies appreciate our half price cocktails special as they are used to it because the concept has been running for five years and with time, it just got better and better.
โWe have brought in two of Bulawayoโs versatile and hottest up and coming female DJs in the names of DJ Fifi and Just Dre who was part of the past Munch n Sip event and she is also gearing up to perform at the Vic Falls Carnival over the weekend, so she is quit an esteemed wheel spinner.
โWe just want to give our patrons from all over the country, Africa and the world a very unique Bulawayo experience led by these two top female DJs who will be helped by our residential DJs as well.
โWe selected these two DJs in particular because we want to make it a night anchored by amazing women as our event is a ladiesโ night concept, therefore we thought it must be led by these sensational creative DJs,โ said Ndlovu.
Bulawayo has always been termed as a cultural and entertainmentย hub and there are more spots that ZITF revellers can grace during their stay at the ongoing trade fair.
On Thursday, Cosmopolitan VIP Lounge will host a gig dubbed the Zi-Thursday Take Over with Boiz Dzendiz (Smithondeck and DJ Joe) who are ZiFM personalities.
They will be supported on the decks by Keezy AM, Ras Obido and Teflon El Don.
Stunts Bar has always been a vibrant and traditional joint, known for playing music that always resonate and reveal the identity of Bulawayo, from Splash music and Afro Jazz. There are specials that will be offered at the spot for the ZITF period.
The newly refurbished Highlanders Club House, is also a vital joint that visitors in Bulawayo can grace. The club house was given a fresh look and it’s new look as taken the Highlanders F.C team to reach and be at par with enternational standards.
The joint is open every day of the week and also weekends
Closing the ZITF will be the much anticipated sixth edition of the Bulawayo Shutdown show which will be held on Saturday (29 April) at the Boundary, which is proudly brought by DTL Records and Harris Hotels.
South Africaโs Amapiano star lady DJ Lady Du, real name Duduzile Ngwenya,ย multi-talented hitmaker Setoki Mbatha aka DJ Stokie, renowned Zimbabwean dancehall artist Winky D are set to headline the gig.
