The esteemed Bulawayo Businesswomen High Tea which took place on 25 February at Lavinia Gardens in Waterford, Bulawayo, lived up to its billing as it was graced by women in business from different parts of the country.

The expo was coined by seasoned model instructor, coach and business woman Sipho Mazibuko.
Sithembiso Nyoni, who is the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, endorsed the High Tea as she was also in attendance.

At the much-hyped event, banking and financial institutions including Women’s Bank, Inclusive Finance, BancABC, Empower Bank and Smedco displayed their products and offered services and advice to those who attended.

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra), also made a special appearance to teach the attendees on the ethics and laws that govern them in registering and doing their business in a legal manner.

Mazibuko said she was happy with the turn up at the event as it attracted many women as far as South Africa, Gwanda, Nkayi and Victoria Falls.

“The event went well as planned and to our surprise it was sold out as we ended up setting up more tables to accommodate the numbers we attracted.

“So many women were in attendance, we had one from South Africa, three from Gwanda, some from Nkayi, Kezi and Victoria Falls.

“Minister Sithembiso Nyoni was also there to grace the event and she was amazed by our works such that she vowed to organise such an event for women to mingle at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

“We gave the major platform to Samantha Banda who was our youngest guest. She shared her journey with us up to how she won the Businesswoman of the Year award last year at the Mega Fest, something that inspired other women to work even harder,” said Mazibuko.

Mazibuko thanked the banks that attended and paid tribute to Inclusive Finance who partnered them in organising the event.

Many prizes were won. Sicilia Dube from Gwanda won the Best Fascinator award from Standard Hotel, a night for two at the hotel.

The host, Sipho Mazibuko, was announced as the Standard Hotel Ambassador as well as KoSnqo Guest House, Emganwini.
