Chief Hwenje death rumours shot down

REVOLUTIONARY musician, Admire “Chief Hwenje” Sibanda, is still alive and kicking despite death rumours making rounds.

An online publication, Zim Eye, caused panic after they reported that the “Mai Welly” singer who is down with cancer had died.

Multiple sources confirmed that the lanky musician was still alive.

A band member of Chief Hwenje’s group professed ignorance over the musician’s said death.

“We do not have information about that,” he said in a WhatsApp conversation.

Radio presenter Edias Sibanda, who is the younger brother to Chief Hwenje dismissed the rumours in a Facebook post.

“I am Chief Hwenje’s (Admire Sibanda) young brother. I would like to inform you that Chief Hwenje is safe and alive. Everything is okay with him. Please stop spreading fake news. He is very well,” read the post.

He further shared another post with Chief Hwenje:

“Me and Chief Hwenje, my brother, are planning for Friday.”

Chief Hwenje grabbed headlines after it was reported that he was suffering from cancer of the blood.

He was set to receive treatment in South Africa.
