Over 400 people in Chibhalavillage get free medical service

Herald Reporter

Over 400 people in Chibhala village of Hwange district recently benefitted from a free medical service outreach programme organised by the Hwange Colliery Company Limited (HCCL) Holdings.

The initiative launched by the coal power house under its subsidiary Hwange Medical Company benefitted over 400 villagers on November 15.

Beneficiaries received general medical screening and attention, eye care, cancer screening and hypertension medication among other services in support of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) on Good health and well being.

For villagers who faced challenges in making it to the nearest health facility 25 kilometres away whenever health care needs arose, the outreach was a huge moment of relief.

Mining companies in Hwange and other parts of the country have been challenged by Government to support the communities they operate in through life changing initiatives.

HCCL also screened for cancer at the event.

Government has insisted on ensuring its vision of a healthy society is promoted through its mantra of โ€˜Leaving No one and no place behind.โ€™
