Harare City Council has launched an awareness campaign to deal with the growing problem of drug and substance abuse in the capital and create a drug-free society.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Rosemary Muronda highlighted the far-reaching impact of this issue, emphasising its detrimental effects on individuals, families, and the community.
At an event held at Mount Pleasant Community Hall, local schoolchildren used poetry and drama to highlight the dangers of drug use.
โDrug abuse does not just impact the person using substances, it affects their families, friends and the community at large,โ said Councillor Muronda.
She said the campaign is a call for action against drug and substance abuse, adding that the goal is to create a drug-free society.
โBy raising awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles, Harare hopes to protect the youth and build a brighter future for all.โ
