No room for criminal elements in Zanu PF

Dr Obert Moses Mpofu

ZANU PF does not condone wayward behaviour.

Those who commit crimes in the name of the party should face the full force of the law.

There are some individuals who have been committing crimes whilst using the name of the party.

In their wisdom, or lack of it, they have been fleecing people and perpetrating fraudulent activities whilst claiming they are linked to the party.

Let me categorically state that such behaviour will not be tolerated.

Anyone who puts the partyโ€™s good name into disrepute or abuses their position in the party to fleece people and commit crimes will face the full force of the law.

The party will not hesitate to expose such individuals and have law-enforcement agencies deal with them accordingly.

Unfortunately, the partyโ€™s good name has been abused by those who have no idea of its ethos and values.

ZANU PF was built and is anchored in a foundation of hard work.

We are always focused on ensuring that we work hard to meet our goals, both at the individual level and as a collective.

We do not harbour criminals.  Zimbabwe is a law-abiding country. ZANU PF is a law-abiding party that does not condone wayward and criminal behaviour.

Our leader, His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa, has often urged the authorities to arrest and prosecute those perpetrating crimes using the name of the party.

ZANU PF is a party that has immense respect for the laws of the land.

We do not have room for criminals.

Those who think they can commit crimes with impunity should have themselves to blame when the law comes knocking.

There is no way the party will protect criminals.  Being associated with the party does not give members the right to do as they please.

Far from it.

Only those who do not have the party at heart harbour criminal intent.

Bona fide party cadres know exactly how they are supposed to behave.

They know full well that they are supposed to protect the party and its image at all times.

In recent weeks, my office has been inundated with several complaints, ranging from dubious land deals to the theft and abuse of Presidential inputs by individuals masquerading as party officials.

The net is, however, closing in on them.  We are not going to allow a few crooked individuals to sully the partyโ€™s good name for their gain and profit.

The founding cadres of ZANU PF were always focused on what they could do for the party rather than what the party could do for them.

This is why our movement was able to defeat the former colonisers.

It was that belief in sacrifice and doing whatever it took for the benefit of the party and generality of Zimbabweans.

It is this kind of thinking that we should always adhere to, for our party still has a long way to go.

There is so much to be done to achieve our nationโ€™s aspirations.

However, we cannot achieve out targets with individuals focused on personal gain.

We should all take a cue from His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa, who has spent his entire life in service to the party and people of Zimbabwe.

Service and selflessness are the elements that are essential in our efforts towards building a formidable nation.

We should thus shun all criminal activities and play our part in weeding out unruly elements whose actions taint us.

The party will actively work towards weeding out all unruly elements.

We have put a lot of work in building our party to the position that it is in                                                                                      now.

Our efforts will not be tainted by a few crooked individuals.
