A 27-YEAR-OLD woman from Muzondakaya Village, Chief Musikawanhu, Chipinge, was robbed and stabbed by a thief on her way home from Chibuwe Township.
The incident happened when Garikai Tsitsi Mathabuka (27) was approaching her homestead alone.
As she was about to enter the gate of their homestead, Tadiwanashe Makwenya (30) of Ndunduma Village, allegedly attacked and stabbed her. He stole Mathabukaโ€™s cellphone, cellphone charger and a brown skin bag.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident, and said as the complainant was about to enter their gate, Makwenya pulled her back, and stabbed her once on the left side of the head behind the ear.
โ€œMathabuka was coming from work at Chibuwe Township where she is employed as a shop attendant. When she was approaching her homestead, the accused caught up with her, and started walking side by side. As she was about to enter their gate, Makwenya pulled her back, and stabbed her once on the left side of the head behind the ear and on the left side of the body just above the ribs.
โ€œHe forcibly grabbed a brown skin bag which contained Mathabukaโ€™s property and ran away. Mathabuka screamed for help. A passersby and a policeman from Chibuwe Police Post, Constable Tozoona chased the thief and caught up with him at Chibuwe Post Office. On site of the policeman, Makwenya threw away the slim bag and escaped,โ€ said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
Mathabuka sustained deep cuts on the left side of the head and on the left side of the body.
She was referred to Chibuwe Clinic where she was treated and discharged.
Her condition is stable.
