Cde Kandishaya appointed chair of African Youth Congress

In a landmark moment for Zimbabwean youth representation on the continental stage, Zanu PF Youth League Secretary for Commissariat Cde Taurai Kandishaya has been appointed chairperson of the African Youth Congress (AYC).
The appointment solidifies Zimbabwe’s growing influence in pan-African youth affairs and has been met with widespread applause from across the political spectrum.
Speaking after his appointment, Cde Kandishaya said there is need for unity, innovation and empowerment among African youth.
“This is not just a personal milestone but a victory for every young African striving for recognition and opportunities,” he said.
“African youths are the heartbeat of the continent, and I am committed to amplifying their voices on global platforms.”
The AYC, an umbrella organisation representing millions of young people across the African Union member States, plays a pivotal role in shaping policies and initiatives to address youth unemployment, education and social justice.
Cde Kandishaya vowed to focus on practical solutions for the challenges being faced by young Africans.
“Our generation must lead in transforming Africa into a global powerhouse. We have the talent and resilience, now it’s time to take action,” he said.
As chair of the AYC, Cde Kandishaya is expected to foster intercontinental partnerships, improve young entrepreneursโ€™ access to resources and promote a culture of innovation and self-reliance.
His bold vision and steadfast commitment have seen Cde Kandishaya declaring this “a new era for African youth.”
