Mangaliso Kabulika

THE cellphone of a man, who is suspected to have been electrocuted while he was trying to steal oil and cables from a transformer, kept ringing long after he had died in Harare yesterday.

The unidentified man, from Kuwadzana Phase 3, was found dead near the electricity transformer yesterday.

An eyewitness told H-Metro:

“As I was going to work, I saw a man lying at the entrance of the place where the transformer is kept and he looked dead.

“His phone was ringing while he was lying next to a catapult and a bolt cutter.

“I had to call people who live nearby to come and witness this and we were afraid to touch him before the police had arrived as well as answering his phone, which kept on ringing.

“We are suspecting that he is one of those thieves who steal oil and cables from our transformers,” said the witness.

The body of the man was later taken away by the police.
