A SECURITY guard has appeared in court facing charges of attempted murder.

Darryl Carlsson (42) allegedly shot at an employee of a security company who was walking past his house. He appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Tildah Mazhande. The prosecution alleges that on Thursday last week, an employee of CINK Security Company was walking past Carlsson’s residence in Eastlea, Harare, when Carlsson confronted him, accusing him of theft. Carlsson reportedly charged at the other man while armed with a .22 Brno Long Rifle and fired a shot aimed at the man’s legs, although he missed. Fearing for his safety, the man fled the scene and reported the incident to Highlands police. Police officers responded to the report, arrested Carlsson, and recovered the firearm used in the incident. Investigations revealed that the .22 Brno Long Rifle is legally registered in Carlsson’s name at the Central Firearm Registry.
