Kwekwe police investigate fatal hit and run accident

POLICE in Kwekwe have launched an investigation into the death of man who is suspected to have been a victim of a hit and run accident.
The man’s body was found on Saturday at around 9:18 pm in the middle of the road near the 219 km peg on the Harare-Bulawayo road.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the matter.
He said the identity of the deceased has not been determined.
“ZRP in Kwekwe received information that there was a body in the middle of the road and attended the scene,” he said.
“It would appear that the now deceased met his death through a road accident and the body was thereafter run over by several cars.”
He said the body is being held at Kwekwe District Hospital and investigations are continuing.
“Members of the public who maybe missing a male relative must approach ZRP Kwekwe traffic and check if they can identify the body.
“We also call upon those with information of what could have transpired to contact any police station.”
