A 49-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly fondled his co-tenant’s six-year-old child’s private parts was arrested and charged with aggravated indecent assault.
The man from Old Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo who cannot be named to protect the minor child appeared before Western Commonage court regional magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 14 November.
It is alleged that on October 17 at around 2 pm, while the victim’s mother was away, the accused allegedly called the minor girl, who was playing outside the yard with her friends.
The minor, the court heard, rushed to him and he asked her to go with him to collect sweets in his bedroom and the minor agreed to go with him unaware of his intentions.
The man led the minor to his bedroom and locked the door behind them. He then asked the minor to lie down on the bed, and allegedly fondled her private parts, leaving her with bruises and bleeding.
After the man was finished, the little girl returned to her room. A few hours later, her mother returned home and the minor revealed the ordeal to her.
The concerned mother reported the incident to the police, leading to the man’s arrest.
