Cowdray Park man battered for dating ‘married’ woman

LOVE can be sweet, and it can also turn sour.

While Lungisani Mpofu (22) of Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park suburb was enjoying himself boozing in the suburb near the terminus he invited his lover Nobuhle Ndlovu (23) to join him.

Sadly the outing later turned horribly wrong for Mpofu.

This was after three men arrived at the scene and accused him of dating a married woman.

“One of the men claimed to be Nobuhle’s husband and fiercely accused him of dating his wife. He fumed,” said a witness.

The situation turned nasty when they manhandled Mpofu before punching him, said the source.

The source said they went on to attack him before pelting him with stones and injuring him on the head.

He bled profusely before he fell to the ground.

As if that was not enough, one of the suspects stabbed him several times all over the body and left him lying in a pool of blood, the source said.

The source further said Mpofu who collapsed as a result of the frenzied attack was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is battling for his life.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

“We would like to strongly discourage members of the public from taking the law into their hands as that might lead to unnecessary loss of life,” he said.
