24-year-old nabbed for granny rape

24 -YEAR-OLD man from Mbembesi in Matabeleland North province who allegedly sexually attacked an 80-year-old granny for almost the entire night appeared in court facing rape charges.

Onele Ngqatha (24) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Collet Ncube and was not asked to plead.

He was remanded in custody to 8 November 2023.

A court heard that on an unknown date but sometime in October this year Ngqatha went to the 80-year-oldโ€™s homestead.

Upon arrival he smashed her bedroom window before he gained entry.

While inside he tiptoed to the victimโ€™s bed where he allegedly groped her breasts and buttocks before he reportedly carried out the attack.

It is said after he forcibly had sex with her he slept on top of her before he allegedly raped her for the second time.

The court heard that after that he slept beside her while again fondling her breasts and caressing her all over the body.

He went on to allegedly rape her for the third time. It is said after that the granny requested to leave going to the kitchen under the pretext that she wanted to drink water.

When she got there she narrated the ordeal to her granddaughter.

The shocked granddaughter accompanied the granny to her bedroom but when they got there they could not find Ngqatha who had already fled.

When they looked around they discovered that Ngqatha had forgotten his knobkerrie and they took it to the police station and reported the matter leading to his arrest.
