BULAWAYO-based comedian Mbongeni Ignatious Ndlovu (25) is set to perform at the Lesotho International Comedy Festival on 3 November.ย
Ndlovu has made various performances with a number of well-known comedians locally and this will be his second performance outside the country.ย
He said this opportunity was a dream come true and it would be a great chance for him to fully represent the country.ย
โI will be performing in Maseru on 3 November and I feel very privileged and honoured for such an amazing opportunity not only to perform but to well represent my city and country.ย
โThis is my second performance outside the country. My first appearance was in Botswana last month, where I enjoyed myself on stage and it was one of my best gigs,โ said Ndlovu.ย
The wordsmith said his comedy breakthrough was when he performed at the Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo in 2020.ย
โMy first breakthrough in comedy was in 2020 at the Intwasa Arts Festival. l also performed in Harare as a curtain raiser for MaForty who is my mentor in his one-man show.ย
โI was also in the line-up for the commemoration of the legend Clive Chigubhu and l got the best performance of the night,โ he said.ย
Ndlovu believes that there is a lot of potential in Zimbabwean comedy and he believes that the future is bright.ย
โZimbabwean comedy has so much potential. We have some of the best who paved the way for us like Ma Forty, King Kandoro and Long John who are currently lifting the Zimbabwean flag in different countries.ย
โI believe that if people invest in comedy just like all the other genres, it will go a long way in ensuring the growth of the entertainment industry,โ he said.ย
