In a shocking incident that unfolded in Lobengula, a 38-year-old woman identified as MaNdiweni was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old boy, resulting in his hospitalisation.
The incident occurred when the boy and his friend went to collect change from a neighbouring house, as reported by the boy’s distraught mother, Kwanele Sibanda.
According to Sibanda, her son returned home from his morning jog in tears, struggling to stand properly, and recounted the horrifying encounter.
“My son came home crying, saying that he had accompanied his friend to get his change from one of the houses down the street,” Sibanda narrated in an emotional interview.
“When they got there, the lady started shouting at them, asking what they were doing at her gate that early in the morning,” she continued.
The boys attempted to explain their purpose for being there, but MaNdiweni became increasingly agitated and charged towards them in a fit of anger. While one of the boys managed to escape, the 14-year-old victim was not as fortunate.
MaNdiweni allegedly grabbed the boy’s privates, squeezing them with such force that he screamed in pain.
Determined to resolve the issue amicably, Sibanda asked her son to identify the perpetrator so they could address the situation.
However, their attempt at peaceful resolution quickly turned into a terrifying ordeal. “When we got there, the lady started throwing stones. She even threatened to hit me as well,” Sibanda recounted, clearly shaken by the encounter.
Realising that MaNdiweni was unwilling to co-operate, Sibanda promptly reported the incident to the local authorities. “We have reported the matter to the police, and we are expecting the law to take its course,” she stated firmly, seeking justice for her son’s traumatic experience.
