After four months of releasing his full length album titled Iphephandaba, Bulawayo-bred Afro-Fusion Muso Bhila, real name Patriarch Manyabi has made a follow-up as he has released a new single titled Mathapelo on 18 October.
The single accompanied by visuals shot by Motion Culture at Makokoba and the city’s new luxurious joint, King’s Kraal famously known as Cotton, was produced by Melaya Beats and George Verdaman.
The song celebrates the lobola/roora celebrations at the same time bringing the importance and the significance of the custom.
“I just wanted to give the people who love my music a celebratory song that celebrates love and emphasises on the culture of lobola payment. It is a great thing for one to show commitment and affection towards his other half by paying the bride price.
“It also blesses their union as lobola confirms their relationship and binds them and their families as one. The song encourages those in love to do the right thing by following the tradition,” said Bhila.
As the festive season approaches, Bhila promised his fans great music.
He said he wrote a song on socialite Fidelis Trust Mdluli Nyathi who committed suicide early this month.
“To those who love my music I promise them that I am going back to storytelling on my next projects. I believe there are plenty of good musicians who do great music for festivals, so I am also planning to tap into that stream through various collaborations.
“There are two songs awaiting release. The other one is called Ukufa which is a dedication to Fidelis Nyathi. However I am yet to consult his family,” said Bhila.
