HWANGE’S Colliery Stadium and Bata Stadium in Gweru have been homologated to start staging Premier Soccer League matches.
The two facilities have been going through renovations, a development that saw Hwange and PSL newboys Sheasham play thier home matches away from home.
“Colliery Stadium and Bata Stadium have been renovated and have been cleared to host PSL matches,” said Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela.
Chipangano and the Construction Boys were among the nine clubs alongside Black Rhinos, Manica Diamonds, Cranborne Bullets, ZPC Kariba, Greenfuel and Simba Bhora that had their home grounds deemed unfit for PSL games.
As a result, they had to find alternative venues for their home games with the coal miners playing at Bulawayo’ Luveve Stadium and Barbourfields Stadium.
Sheasham used Mandava Stadium.
The country’s Confederation of African (CAF) trained stadium experts are yet to re-inspect Mutare’s Sakubva Stadium, ZPC Kariba’s Nyamhunga Stadium, Greenfuel’s Chisumbanje as well as Simba Bhora’s Shamva Stadium.
Sakubva provides home to Manica Diamonds. The diamond miners have been using Gibbo Stadium in Triangle alongside Greenfuel for their home games.
Army side Black Rhions, who previously were based at Rusape’s Vengere Stadium are using the giant National Sports Stadium together with CAPS United, Dynamos, Simba Bhora, Yadah and Herentals.
The clearance of Colliery Stadium will on Saturday see Hwange play host to Bulawayo Chiefs at their favourite hunting ground.
The match between Sheasham and Highlanders scheduled for Sunday will be played at Bata Stadium.
