THE adage Ko Mfazi Utshay’ndoda that aptly applies to Bulawayo for having women “made” of sterner stuff might have long been dispensed with but one woman from Nketa 9 suburb who has made a good case for bringing it back.
This was after she was arrested for violently punching her husband once in the groin area with a fist resulting in him sustaining severe testicle pains.
Yes, you read that right, he sustained severe testicle pains which led him to experience difficulties in walking after he was assaulted by his 22-year-old wife for not sleeping at home.
This came to light when Tracy Zulu appeared before Western Commonage court magistrate Shepherd Mjanja charged with physical abuse.
She pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
Three months of the sentence were suspended for three years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining three months were further suspended on condition that she completes 105 hours of community service at Western Commonage court.
The court heard that on 25 February at around 8am, Tichaona Marufu came home from Solusi where he had spent the night after he had a breakdown.
Zulu then started accusing him of cheating and she took his cellphone intending to see who he was communicating with.
Marufu refused to unlock his cellphone and that didn’t go down well with Zulu who then assaulted him with open hands on the face.
Marufu headed to the bedroom and Zulu followed him and in a fit of rage, she went on to punch him once on the groin area with a fist.
As a result of the attack, Marufu sustained severe testicle pain which made him experience difficulties in walking.
Marufu went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of his wife.
