Youths have been urged to take centre stage in fighting against drug abuse and focus on personal development.
Speaking at a recent church conference in the Midlands, conference President Pastor Pritchard Madanyika was quite upbeat with the attendance of the youths.
Church of Christ in Zimbabwe held its annual National youths conference at Somabhula High School and Conference Centre, Midlands province where thousands gathered to celebrate the victory brought by Jesus Christ who brought salvation and redemption for all after being nailed to the cross. The conference was in line with this yearโs church theme, โThe mandate of the youth.โ
โI am thrilled to see such great multitudes of people gathered here. I urge my fellow youths to take centre stage towards personal development and work tirelessly as you still have the energy.โโ
Madanyika also took a swipe at the ravaging effects of alcohol and drug abuse which has become a menace in our moral and social fabrics.
โLet me take this very momentous occasion to implore the youths to desist from alcohol and drug abuse as you are the future of this nation.
โโDrug and alcohol abuse have far repercussions that may go beyond current generations. Letโs work hard and stay focused towards our goals.โ
The conference was also graced by the President of the Church of Christ in Zimbabwe Pastor Alfred Pesanai Chinyoka who encouraged the youths to support the national vision.
โI urge youths to join hands with me towards supporting the construction of the conference centre and school administration block.
โโI need 300 people with US$100 to join me in fundraising towards construction of our conference centre and high school. Together we are stronger, letโs all unite towards this onerous task as the Church of Christ in Zimbabwe.โ
Several lessons and topics were covered with music competitions, drama, poetry, musical talent shows, and sporting activities lined up with participating teams from across all regions in Zimbabwe.
