Zimbabwe music giant Mukudzeyi Mukombe famously known as Jah Prayzah has been unveiled as one of the artistes who will perform at the main stage of the eleventh edition of the annually held Victoria Falls Carnival. The country’s foremost festival is slated to run from 28 to 30 April in the resort town.
Jah Prayzah joins a star-studded line-up of performers including globetrotting South African DJ Black Coffee, Lerato Kganyago, Podcast n Chill’s Mac G and Sol Phenduka, Mafikizolo, Black Motion, Botswana’s Han-C, Mokoomba, EnzoIshall, DJ Rimo, Anita Jaxson and DJ Nitefreak who returns to the list after impressing revellers last year.
On their social media pages, Vic Falls Carnival organisers said they were happy to finally convince Jah Prayzah to be part of the carnival, a first in his career.
“The announcement many of you have been waiting for is here. Master of the Mbira and MTV award-winning artiste Jah Prayzah will be gracing the Main Stageat the Vic Fall Carnival 2023.
“His music is a fusion of Zimbabwean Traditional Music, Mbira and Afrobeats. Hehas eleven albums to his name, with a song off his latest offering ‘Gwara’ beingplay-listed by Apple Music under their Africa Now playlist. We can’t wait to beenchanted by you Mukoma,” said Vic Falls Carnival in a statement.
Jah Prayzah’s manager Keen Mushapaidze said the dreadlocked chanter wasexcited to be part of this year’s activities.“Jah Prayzah has performed numerous times in Victoria Falls but this is the firsttime for him to be part of the Vic Falls Carnival. The organisers of the event approached us and we couldn’t resist to be part of this year’ s edition. I mean this is the biggest festival in the country.
“All that we promise to fans is good time and a splendid performance. To those who have never seen him on stage especially those from other countries, they mustexpect fireworks and true African music,” said Mushapaidze.
