ENVIRONMENTALIST and founder of the ‘Keep Bulawayo Clean’ campaign, Tonderai Shoko, donated 66 trees to Masiyephambili Junior School in Bulawayo as part of his project to raise awareness about the importance of trees to the environment.

The donation took place on Friday last week and the trees were planted by the pupils together with teachers.

Speaking at the handover ceremony Shoko said trees served a huge purpose in the community adding that more trees should be planted for a better environment.

“Trees are important to the environment. Instead of cutting down trees, it is important that we plant them in our premises. I’m challenging that each year everyone should try to plant a tree on their birthday,” said Shoko.

Last year in October, Bulawayo model, and Miss Environment, Jemima Mandemwa also conducted a clean-up and tree planting programme at the same school in celebration of the National Clean-Up Day.
