Gwanda’s up and coming poet Thaluso Da Poet is set to release a poetry album titled UMusa KaThixo which will be launched in line with the National Youth Day celebrations on 21 February.
UMusa KaThixo (God’s mercy) which is Thaluso’s first full-length album, is a social commentary project which fuses Gospel and “real life situation” poems.
The launch will be held at YWCA (9th Avenue and Lobengula Street) from 2pm to 4pm, with celebrated multi-award-winning poet Desire Moyoxide making an appearance as a supporting act.
The show is open to everyone, but through a contribution at the door attracting from as little as US$3 or R50.
Thaluso said: “Dear sons and daughters of Bulawayo, I am kindly asking for your support as I launch my first solo poetry album titled UMusa KaThixo at YWCA in line with the National Youth Day celebrations.
“Entry is open through a contribution at the door, as little as US$3 or R50. This is a life changing opportunity to me as I am looking forward to receiving support from poetry fanatics and creatives from Bulawayo,” said Thaluso.
Moyoxide who will share the stage with Thaluso, encouraged other local artistes to take their time to come and support the budding creative.
“As local artistes, we are generally a poor people, attending our own paying events for support is a mammoth task. Asking for complimentary tickets from our own colleagues so we at least go show face and support is a challenge.
“My prayer is, all great artistes from Bulawayo can come and show up for such a show, either paying or having asked for complimentary tickets. We need to support each other.
“With or without money, at least showing up and giving support and encouragement to other creatives. I encourage all poetry and art lovers to come and grace this event in numbers for Thaluso will unleash fire,” said Moyoxide.
