TREVOR Muchokomori (29) felt betrayed by his workmate who followed him out of the bar and accused him of flaunting cash before he allegedly stabbed and robbed him of his cellphone and US$290.
The life threatening incident happened at a night spot which is situated along Six Avenue between George Silundika Street and Robert Mugabe Way in Bulawayo.
A source said Trevor had a great day financially, touting for commuters and decided to enjoy the fruits of his hard work at a night spot.
He met his workmate only identified as Chitsa at the night spot.
Trevor kept the beer flowing for his companions, unaware that by so doing he was putting himself in danger.
โThey took wise waters until 11pm and Trevor left with Chitsa since they stay in the same suburb. While they were on their way to board a kombi, Chitsa accused Trevor of flaunting his cash and showing off in the night club,โ said the source.
A heated argument ensued between the pair.
Trevor sensed danger and fled towards 6th Avenue.
โChitsa pursued him and caught up with him before he stabbed him with a knife and robbed him of US$290. He then left him gasping for breath on the ground,โ said the source.
A Good Samaritan picked him up and left him at Bulawayo Central Police Station where he was ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital.
Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
โWe would like to strongly discourage members of the public from engaging in violence because at times it leads to unnecessary loss of life,โ he said.
